Many of you have grown up going to fish camps and authentic barbeque restaurants. Well, our numbers 15 and 15L chairs with the slatted double scooped seat have been mainstays at those establishments. We have seen photographs in magazines with our chairs in kitchens, bedrooms, and porches. These chairs are built tough but also very comfortable.
Each sport a steam bent back which means the posts are actually placed in a vat of boiling water and then hand placed in a row of forms that bend the posts at just the right point. These posts enjoy a 48 hour period in a spa like setting that you would refer to as a sauna, we call it a dry kiln. We go one step further in making your stay in our chair more comfortable by shaving a portion of the front of the post so the post will not dig into your back. The back slats are cut with a curve and also visit the dry kiln before being pressed into the chair. These chairs are available with the traditional Troutman slatted double scooped seats, solid wood seats, and hand woven sea grass seats. Sea grass is a grass that grows in the waters in Asia. |

We knew we needed to find a way to give our chairs a more contemporary look (not that back in day look as our teenagers would say!). Wanting to stick with oak and our quest for comfort along with traditional manufacturing techniques; this one gave us a run! We like this chair as it has a little spunk. And depending upon which seats and color combinations it can get pretty contemporary or just plain cute!
This chair sports the same steam bent posts as our Farmhouse chair. Oak posts are placed in a vat of boiling water and then placed in a row of forms that bend the posts at just the right spot! They stay in our dry kiln for 48 hours and when removed have a perfect bend. We go one step further in making your stay in our chair more comfortable by shaving off a portion of the front of the posts so they will not dig into your back. The slats in the backs of these chairs and stools also visit the dry kiln and are cut to encourage you sit awhile! These chairs and stools are available in the traditional Troutman slatted double scooped seats, solid wood seats, and sea grass seats. |

| Traditional ladder back chairs are getting harder to find. We have the traditional styling of the ladder back with the extra cuts in the back slats and the straight back. A few years ago at the suggestion of some of our dealers we worked on making the back not quite as puritan straight as it had been. We managed to be successful although it still does not promote slouching! (Much better for the back!) These chairs and stools are available with the traditional Troutman slatted double scooped seats, solid wood seats, and hand woven sea grass seats. |
